Equatorial Guinea
In Equatorial Guinea, HIV prevention, treatment, and viral load testing services were scaled up to better reach vulnerable and key populations.
Dolutegravir-based first line treatment regimens, same-day treatment initiation, and multimonth dispensing of antiretroviral medicines were implemented in 2022; infant diagnosis improved though capacity building of 30 laboratory technicians on dried blood spots (WHO); and 50 healthcare providers were trained to improve the quality of care services and the health outcomes of people living with HIV (UNICEF, WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat). A total of 368 health services providers also improved their capacity inpreventing and addressing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV in health settings (UNDP).
Over 3400 young people and adolescents accessed information on HIV prevention and teenage pregnancy in school settings (UNFPA); and a further 1550 adolescents and young people received HIV-related information in schools and cultural institutions through theatrical plays in collaboration with the Bocamandja Theatrical Group (UNICEF).
